Applications of Mössbauer spectroscopy to different problems of solid state research

As mentioned above, Mössbauer spectroscopy has been our main technique from an early stage on, with the main goal of applying this elegant hyperfine interaction tool to various problems of solid state research, but also keeping an eye on the methodology in developing further special measuring techniques such as Conversion Electron Mössbauer spectroscopy (CEMS), temperature-dependent and depth-selective, gamma scattering techniques, Mössbauer measurements with short-lived sources like 61Ni. In many review articles we have introduced the reader into the principles of Mössbauer spectroscopy and the theoretical foundation of the relevant hyperfine interaction parameters seen in a Mössbauer spectrum before discussing selected applications in solid state chemistry and physics, technical disciplines and mineralogy /19,20, 21, 23, 25, 32, 45, 66, 163, 279/. The following summary is intended to give a flavour of applications of Mössbauer spectroscopy in various fields.
